Lamar County Jail Roster

The Lamar County Jail Inmate Roster is a public resource that allows anyone to check who is currently in custody at the county jail in Texas. LamarTXCourt.us provides access to publicly available information about current and recently arrested individuals. Additionally, data can be obtained through the official county judicial records portal, in person at the jail, or by calling the sheriff's office. A search of the roster allows you to find out the inmate's name, charges, booking date, and custody status. The roster is maintained by the Lamar County Sheriff's Office, is hosted online, and is updated as new bookings are processed.

Search Current Inmates in Lamar Jail

There are several ways to find information about individuals currently held in the county jail.

Online Search

  1. Visit LamarTXCourt.us to start searching publicly available court records and inmate information.
  2. Use the Odyssey Public Access portal on the official county website — it contains a "Jail Records" section where you can view the list of individuals in custody.
  3. Enter the last name or booking number in the appropriate search field. If the system displays a list without a search field, use the browser's Ctrl+F function (or Cmd+F on Mac) to find the desired name.

To start a search, you will need:

  • The person's full legal name (first and last name)
  • Booking number (if known)

Records of juvenile offenders are not displayed in the public roster.

By Phone

Call the jail directly to find out if a specific person is in custody. The operator can confirm the presence of an inmate if you provide the full name.

In Person

Visit the jail lobby during business hours. The visitor information window allows you to inquire about custody status.

Find Lamar Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created at the moment a person is officially admitted to the jail. This is not the same as an arrest: booking is an administrative registration procedure that records all key data about the detainee.

During booking, the following information is generated:

  • Unique booking number
  • Date and time of admission
  • Charges filed
  • Arresting agency (sheriff, Paris city police, or other agency)
  • Mugshot
  • Basic demographic data — gender, age, race

Booking records can be obtained online in several ways. The county's Odyssey Public Access portal displays jail records alongside criminal and civil cases. If the person has already been transferred to a state facility, use the TDCJ inmate search — it will show location, offenses, and estimated release date.

For more detailed records not displayed in the online roster, submit a public information request. Under the Texas Public Information Act (PIA), government agencies are required to provide access to records unless they fall under defined confidentiality exceptions.

Search the Lamar Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The roster supports two main search methods.

By Last Name

Enter the last name in the search field. Adding a first name narrows the results — this is useful if the last name is common. A few practical tips:

  • Check the spelling. One incorrect letter can result in zero results.
  • Try spelling variations — hyphenated, with an apostrophe, shortened form of the name (e.g., "Rob" instead of "Robert").
  • If the system allows partial search, enter only the first few letters of the last name.

By Booking Number

The booking number is the most accurate way to find a specific record. It is unique to each jail admission case. This number is usually provided to relatives upon first contact or is listed in court documents.

If the Search Yields No Results

The absence of a record does not always mean the person is not in custody. Possible reasons:

  1. The name was entered incorrectly or in a format different from the official one.
  2. The booking is not yet complete — several hours may pass between physical arrest and the record appearing in the system.
  3. The person has already been released or transferred to another facility.
  4. The record concerns a juvenile and is not subject to public disclosure.

In such cases, call the jail at (903) 737-2400 to clarify information. For a statewide criminal history search, contact the DPS Texas Crime Records Division.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Lamar

The inmate roster is updated as jail staff enter new bookings and releases into the electronic system. In practice, this means updates occur throughout the business day, but not instantly.

Main limitations to consider:

LimitationExplanation
Delay in Record AppearanceBetween the time of arrest and appearance in the roster, several hours to the next business day may pass — depending on the time of day and staff workload.
Disappearance After ReleaseRecords are typically removed from the public roster shortly after the person is released or transferred. The roster only reflects current custody.
Not an ArchiveThe public roster is not a database of all past bookings. To obtain historical records, a separate request must be submitted to the sheriff's office.
Data ErrorsOccasionally, inaccuracies occur in name spelling or charge classification — data is entered manually.

If you need records of past bookings or court decisions, use the Texas judiciary's open records policy or submit a written request directly to the Lamar County administration. For free legal advice regarding record access rights, contact Texas legal aid resources.
